Where AI helps
- Writing and reviewing the computer code of the calculators, and first drafts of page text. We use Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, for this.
- First drafts of the Hindi pages. These are marked on each page until a native speaker has checked them.
What AI does not do
- The numbers on a page are never written by AI. Results, worked examples and tables are computed by the calculator code, which is tested against worked examples.
- Rates, tax rules and limits are taken from the official sources listed on each page, and the date shown is the date a person last checked them.
- We do not invent authors, experts, reviews or ratings, and we do not use AI-made pictures of people.
- Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to an AI service. The calculators run in your browser.
- We do not use AI to name, rank or recommend any fund, share, bank or insurer.
How we check
Automated tests check the calculators against worked examples. The site owner reviews each new calculator and each big change before it goes live. Our process for fixing mistakes is on the editorial policy page, and fixes that changed a result are listed in the corrections log.
Pages are published by the CalcTortoise editorial team. This page will be updated whenever the way we use AI changes.
